Fund Raising Turn-In
Funds raised are turned in beginning at 6 pm before monthly Band Booster meetings.
If you can not make the Boosters meetings and need to send funds to meet your Benchmark or for any other reason, here are some options:
- Send the money with another band parent.
- Mail a check to: Pennsbury Instrumental Music Boosters, PO Box 146, Fairless Hills, PA 19030.
- Send the check in an envelope with your son or daughter and tell them to place it in Shelly Punchatz's mailbox in the band suite.
Please make sure that the money is accompanied with a note stating the band member name and what the money should be applied to.
Fund Raising 2009-2010
by Stan Gursky
As you all should know by now to me that means we need to pick up the pace on fundraising. Whether it's for trip accounts, annual operating benchmarks or to fund our Staff's wish list for equipment improving our children's educational experience, the generous cash flow from our community has been an instrumental part of our success.
Now that we are gearing up for the trip to the Westminster New Year's Parade in London, England, in '09 / '10 we are going to need to pick up the pace! Our goal is to offer enough opportunities for all students to raise trip funds and reduce the financial impact on your family. But you and your students must actively work at it! Selling candy, soliciting Corbi's Pizza, selling Giant scrip (gift cards) requires some amount of effort. We strongly recommend you stop by at each Booster meeting and pick up the current fundraising programs. I would personally like to see more people get involved with suggesting and managing new and fresh opportunities.
For families not participating previously in our fundraising efforts, we break them down into three basic categories:
- Monthly fundraising programs
- Band-sponsored nights at local stores and restaurants/li>
- Special one-day events
Monthly fundraising programs
There will be details of fundraising opportunities distributed at each booster meeting. Orders and receipts (funds) will be turned in a month later at the following booster meeting. Goods will be delivered approximately a month after turn in. This cycle will repeat monthly, with new offerings distributed each time. If you can not attend a particular meeting, orders need to be turned in prior to the meeting. For your convenience all turn in nights will correspond to our Instrumental Music Band Booster meetings. A percent of all sales is credited to the student's benchmark account. The actual percent will vary by program.
The following is a partial list of fundraiser items we will offer during the year:
- Corbi's Pizza
- Fisher's Pot Pies
- Yankee Candles
- Avon
- flower bulbs
- David's Cookies
- coffee gift sets
- cheese cake
- seasonal and holiday specialty gift brochures
- Pee Jay's fruit
In addition we will offer opportunities for ad revenue from books to support the Marching Band Festival, Jazz Festival, Golf Tournament and corporate sponsorships.
Band-sponsored nights at local stores and restaurants
We are planning to work with a variety of local restaurants in setting up special fundraising nights. A percent of sales from these evenings will be donated to the band. We will run these events at Pizza Uno, Chic-Fil-A, and Cheeburger Cheeburger to name a few. If you have any connections at local establishments that participate in these community activities, please contact me to discuss the opportunity.
Special one-day events
There will be a variety of special events as well, including the 9th Annual Marching Band Festival and the annual Golf 'n Jazz golf tournament. Activities during these events in which students can earn credit include festival program and ad book solicitations.
In addition, we will be investigating programs for future years to ensure our compliance with the Pennsbury School District's movement toward a nutritionally healthy environment for our students. We introduced fruit snacks as an option to supplement candy sales. If you have any ideas on future programs for us to consider, please do not hesitate to contact me with your thoughts.
Call For Help
We appreciate the initial response for assistance and have been contacted by a few folks ready to be a part of our fundraising activities. The more members that step up and help will reduce the overall work load and allow us to investigate additional opportunities.
We are especially in need of assistance leading up to and during turn in and distribution nights. Tasks include distributing new activity packets, sorting bulk goods from previous month's orders or organizing / implementing a particular fund raiser. Additional help is needed prior to meeting nights with the coordination or assembly of literature packs, coordination or pick up or storage of product from vendors, coordinate or participate on a committee for a specific program or special event. If you have a specific talent – or great contacts – and feel that you would like to lead or participate in one of the programs, we would like to hear from you. Please contact me or any member of the E Board.
