One band, One look…

’08-‘09 Uniform Update

Uniform Fittings

Uniform fittings will take place during the week of August 18, first week of band camp. The schedule is listed below. Students will be dismissed from practice five at a time to try on uniforms.

Schedule:

Seniors: Monday, Aug.  18– 1 PM to 8 PM

Juniors: Tuesday, Aug. 19 – 8 AM to 4 PM

Sophomores: Wednesday, Aug. 20– 8 AM to 4 PM

Freshmen: Thursday, Aug. 21– 8 AM to 4 PM

Band Front:  Friday, August 22 – 8 AM to 1 PM

The Uniform Committee will be at school on Monday, August 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for anyone who missed their fitting during the week of August 13.

Parents: if a uniform needs to be hemmed, please DO NOT cut the material.  It is fine for the pants or jacket to have a big hem. Someone else may use the uniform next year and we can just remove the hem if needed.

Shoe Fittings

Musicians need two pairs of Dinkles, one white and one black. (Newbies: Dinkles are marching shoes). Students will be fitted for shoes during band camp, at the same times they are fitted for uniforms. We will have shoes to try on. Bring a pair of athletic socks that you will be wearing this season to the fitting. This is important: they should be socks that are padded in the toe and heel or ball of the foot to avoid blisters and discomfort. If you don’t have the socks you intend to use, the shoes will not fit correctly, and you’ll end up with sore feet. This will also avoid having to do exchanges or returns.

The cost of the shoes will be announced before the start of band camp. Payment is due on the day of your uniform fitting. ATTENTION:  For the band members who have seniors that just graduated, please let them know that we are always looking for gently used shoes and would appreciate if they would like to donate them to the uniform room.   If paying by check, please make check payable to “Pennsbury Band Boosters The shoes should be in by the end of band camp. At that time, socks and gloves may be purchased. If you do not wish to purchase them at that time, socks and gloves will be on sale before each football game.

Returning marchers, please try on your black Dinkles and consider getting a new pair if they are getting tight. You want your shoes to be as comfortable as possible. Remember that shoes with cracks are not acceptable.

Dinkles cost:  $24.00 for the black dinkles and $22.00 for the white dinkles.

Black socks: Note that black socks must be solid black; no colors or stripes are acceptable.  Black socks are $3 a pair.

White socks: Only the socks purchased from the Uniform Committee will be acceptable. White socks are $3 a pair.

Gloves: Regular black or white gloves: $3 a pair

“Grippy” black or white gloves: $4 a pair
