INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC  

1 Year    1.0 unit    Grade 10th, 11th, and 12th

 This course is designed for all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade brass, woodwind, and percussion students who are interested who wish to develop their ability to perform instrumental music.  Included are studies in instrumental technique, music reading, expressive playing, critical listening, diverse instrumental literature, and performance skills.  Students are required to schedule and attend 3 lessons per quarter and all performances are mandatory.

Membership in Symphonic Winds is a prerequisite for participation in the Bucks County Music Festival, the Bucks County Youth Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ District, Regional, All-State Band and Orchestra, the Pennsbury High School Marching Band,  Pennsbury High School Lab Band, Pennsbury Concert Jazz Band, and Pennsylvania Music Educators All-State Jazz Band.

Lesson Requirements and Procedures

     1.)  It is mandatory that you attend three lessons per quarter in order to pass. 

2.)   It is the student’s responsibility for signing up for three 15-minute lesson per quarter.  A Lesson Appointment Schedule will be placed on the board outside of Mr. Mazzeo’s office and directly across from Ms. Hinson’s office.  You have up until noon on Wednesday of the prior week to register on the Lesson Appointment Schedule. 

3.)  You may not schedule a lesson during your band period. 

4.)  You must inform your classroom teacher prior to your lesson that you will be missing part of your class. 

5.)  Prior to your lesson, fill out a lesson objective form and bring the form to your lesson. 

6.)  Since lessons are only 15 minutes long, you must be punctual, warmed up, and have all materials.
